Riff and bassline problem

Just put a highpass filter on the riff. cutting at about 130-300

If your synth sound is running through a band pass filter, you can make a slightly more organic fit by turning filter keyboard tracking to -15 or so.
This means that lower notes played on your synth will have a slightly higher cutoff, resulting in a roll-off of the lower frequencies when you play low notes.
This effect may have unintended consequences though, depending on the exact nature of the patch.
