There is a switch under the button (two separate pieces). The button will act like an umbrella, shielding the switch from the contact cleaner.
Spraying down the side of the button probably won't do anything.

You may need to disassemble the synth to get to the switch.
If switch is a sealed switch (I don't know), then contact cleaner won't work, you may need to replace the switch.

But, I'm not the expert on this.

Buttons are on the left, with their square caps removed. You may just be able to flick them out from the main fascia without having to disassemble everything, but I would disassemble just to get at them properly.

Looks like a tight fit to spray isopropyl alcohol or similar, unless that hole in the middle of them will allow you to spray directly into the switch itself, you could always try if you have the iso alcohol handy. Otherwise spraying around into any spaces around the switch while you keep pressing it in/out could help.

However rather than going out and buying even better contact cleaner (such as Swish, at £20 a pop) and find you're still not able to do it, I'd be tempted to just de-solder and replace the switches themselves instead as it could be a symptom of wear and tear, and the switches would likely be cheap to buy brand new.

I tell you this: the weirdest part of it is the OS update. Makes absolutely no sense at all. If you haven't screwed any of the connectors, and you haven't if you're able to use the wheels for midi, then I suggest you to install a fresh OS on the thing and see how it goes, before anything else!

But to be honest, as you may have guessed, Timo is the guy to talk to about this ultra tech stuff XD
