I am a big fan of analog sounds myself....I previously had thought that software/ VAs had replicated the sound that analogue machines can produce but now I think otherwise.
My old Juno 60, which has never really worked properly (since I owned it) produces some beautiful bass that I can seem to get with the Virus. Its a subtle difference, but one that I miss (My Juno's battery drains itself constantly so its basically unusable)
Having said that, the virus is amazingly versatile. The wait has just given me time to get over the initial excitement of 'integration'. I agree USB is probably enough - I use only a fraction of what midi can do...but the temptation of a big analog synth is strong -especially since my Juno has died.

No....they are just grumpy all the f*cking time!!!!!
Hence why I make the trek out to Turramurra Music. Fantastic service, friendly and informative staff. I guess me spending $20k there probably helped a bit

Indeed! Plus I have taken a couple mates there to get started with their home studios, so probably add another $10k to that amount

I got a loan just before I started college, and spent it all on Studio gear. Parents helped me out with college, and Uni is being taken care of by government loan, but since I now earn an income, I can claim petrol allowance, purchasing new gear, and even my school fees as it is related. Its scary though, cos I have to document EVERYTHING.....and keep income/expenditure statements etc
The Studer is rock solid!!!! It is my secret weapon....I just wish you guys could hear it in person...Drums sound gold through it. I have just finished a Demo with this young band, and recorded the drums in my tiny little room, and they sound HOT!

Well....I turned it on for the first time in a long while the other day. Truth is, I havent had much chance to do my own music lately cos of work, Uni, and recording/mixing other people. But soon as this batch of audio related work is over, I am going to concentrate more on my own stuff as well as dedicate more time to studying.

Re: Ti Comparable To Any Other Synths
Forgive me. As a one time Virus C owner I've been periodically visiting this site (lurking) for some time and have been following the on going TI saga with some interest.

So if you could get a synth that was comparable to a virus ti or even a virus c, what would you get?

Imho (and this is just my subjective and not unbiased opinion) the best VA synth, judged by sound quality alone, is the Creamware Noah. You don't just get one 'synth' you get several models, including the Minimax which is widely regarded the best Minimoog emulation. You also get a Pro One, an Odyssey and and a Hammond B3 emulation as well as digital wavetable and vector synths. There's also a really vintage sounding vocoder and a stereo filter bank based upon the 24db Mini filter model.
The analogue emulations were modelled down to the component level of the original circuits (like Korg did with their Legacy MS20) and are really convincing. The instuments have real presence and depth. The bottom end is fat and the top is detailed and clear with absolutely no aliasing. To my ears the Noah's emulations are far more convincingly analogue than the Virus C. As Creamware say they are not so much emulations as 1 to 1 recreations of the instruments sound and character.
It can stream 6 channels of audio via USB and also ouputs digital audio via ADAT and S/PDIF.
I could go on but I won't. Anyway here's where I declare an interest: I've currently got mine on auction on Ebay UK (I need the money for a new paraglider - don't ask!). I should think it will sell for much less than a new TI and is definately worth considering if you want something different and want the best analogue emulation.
