The Virus EFFECTS are comparable to what? ?500 outboard?
Ive always thought the virus effects were pretty useable. Put it this way...I dont feel any pressing need to go out and buy additional outboard just yet. What do u guys think....since u have more experience than me. What is the best virus effect? The phaser? The reverb?
Personally I think the Chorus, reverb and phaser are the best.

Depends on your definition of high-end.....
But you could definately buy a powercore or UAD-1

The phaser on the virus is pretty dangerous(be careful when editing freq, depth, delay and other goodies in the phaser section). It can make you deaf or spoil your studio monitors.

I find myself using the phazer and distortions the most. Although I usually add other distortion from outboard too. Using the Virus FX to replace buying outboard isn't an option at all I rekon.

i find that the virus reverb isnt that great. i use SIR instead which is a free impulse response reverb VSTi. it uses sampled impulses from various hardware reverb units (like the ridiculously good, ridiculously expensive lexicon PCM91), or impulse responses in halls, churches etc. anything really. it just seems more usable than the virus reverb. + the lexi impulses have a big wow factor. they are lush.
go check out the lexicon PCM91 reverbs for SIR which can be found @
http://www.noisevault.com
and SIR can be found @

No way. If you think the Virus effects are good or awesome you don't know what your missing. About the only one I'll use on my C is the delay. All the others are ok with the exception of the reverb which I find to be the weakest of them all. You're much better with at least a TC Powercore or a UAD-1. My favorite reverb is TCs Reverb 4000 I love that unit.
