If you can afford it, just buy the Virus C desktop version  . The more knobs, the better. You have instant access at the most important parameters (like filter settings, osscilators). The rack module uses the same sound engine but it has only a few knobs, so you always have to use some sort of menu to select a group of parameters before you can change them. There is also SoundDiver which gives you an overall view of a patch.
