virus kc and active monitors
Hi all,ive recently brought a virus kc which im goin to use with my pc and sequencing software(cubase sx2-3 upgrade) & reason 2.5 but i want to know can i connect my virus straight to my active monitors(event tr6s)for when i dont want to put on all my pc on and just play around with the sound in the synth to hear the sounds,now the is 3 outputs can i use any of those to get the sound to the monitors or pc/soundcard im also using balanced cables,fingers crossed i should be setting all this up today as long as my stuff is delivered 22/10/04 i know it might sound a bit novicey but i just want to be shure im doin everything right,thanks for any feed back

i think you'll have to run it thru a mixer, send its main outs to the monitors, and other outputs to the soundcard. If u don't want to turn on your PC, you'll have to turn on at least the mixer

I dont think there are any problems hooking up the Virus directly to your active monitors......Although I would double check that fact.
If you had a patch bay, you could simply 'patch' your Virus outputs to your monitors when you dont want to turn on the PC
Patchbays are relatively cheap these days....cheaper than a mixer, but it may be handy to have a small mixer to monitor your outboard synths. Check out the Mackie 1202VLZ....cool little mixer

you can do that, although most people probably would prefer a mixer in between the speaker and the virus. the worse case is that you forget to reduce the volume of the virus and you neighbours stop talking to you
