Default loading a single patch onto virus

I cant seem to be able to load just a single patch onto the virus. I didnt have a problem with loading a full bank of sounds and i finally figured out how to update the os but when i tried to load just one nothing happened. Is there something else you need to do other than just having it set to force to bank a or b?

The only thing I can think is that after loading (Did you get this far?) you have to then press 'store', and store it to a location within banks A or B

Im pretty sure it should be a very similar process to doing an OS update, and seems you have got that sussed.....

Anyone else?

You want to set the Virus to "force to edit buffer" instead of force to bank A or B. Once the patch is loaded into the edit buffer you can save it to any location.

Helpfull tip;

You can load a whole bank one patch at a time if you wish.

Set the Virus to force to edit buffer.
Set sequencer to 4 or 5 bpm.
Play the bank's midi file at this speed. As soon as you see the patch name pop up in the Virus screen, press pause on the sequencer. Play the sound - if you like it, save it - if you don't, press play again, over writing the patch that's in the edit buffer. You can go through a whole bank this way.

Hope this helps.

Yep...HC is right. U need to stick it into force to edit buffer. But im a little preplexed as to why u need to set sequencer to 5bpm. Ive had no problems running it 120bpm.

Banks are not stored as one whole chunk. When you store a bank as SysEx you actually store the patches one by one. The reason why to play it 5bpm is that you manage to react to patch changes. If you play it on 120bpm the patch on the edit buffer changes about over 50 times a second and before you know you only have the last patch of that bank on your edit buffer.

If you are just wanting to load a single patch, it's no problem not being able to slow the bpm of the played file. Force to edit buffer and play.

But if you want to load a whole bank one patch at a time (so you can only save the sounds you want out of a bank), you need to run the midi file at a slow bpm.
