Default Electricity

It would be nice if all of us ran on the same electricity(i.e Everywhere in the world was the same instead of, 2 pin socket, 3 pin socket, blah, blah)

So when we all receive our new TI's (Sooner than later I hope) and go to plug them in (surely one of the best bits), it would work with no probs.

Just an idea

it would be nice but unfortunately cost prohibitive to the countries that have to replace all of their wallsockets and manufacture universal voltage versions of al their products (and thats alot of stuff!). its not even feisible. we cant even all speak the same language yet! it would also lose customs a fat buck or two so they arent really going to comply. the only person that would gain out of this are the people that are trying to exploit exchange rates to purchase stuff abroad cheaply for use in their own country (saving themselves the price and inconvenience of having to purchase a transformer). even if this situation ever worked out with universal voltage appliances there would still be massive problems. if all people purchased abroad cheaply, then it would kill local businesses. which isnt good.

in either case, some sort of agency such as customs would just find other ways of detering people from purchasing abroad by levying a heavier customs tax than the one already to prevent so many people from doing this.

I agree! When I first moved to Japan I brought my gear from Ausi with me, and I had to buy a power converter to handle 240v. Since living here I've bought more gear (that runs on 100v) and I'll have to buy a converter when I go home too! Headfuck......
