Powered Studio Monitors
What does everyone use?
I have the Event Tuned Reference? 5. I'm looking to upgrade soon and was wondering what everyone else uses? Right now I have no price range but I would probably assume that it would be somewhere around $400 US dollars. Any suggestions?

I bought a pair of Behringer 2031A Truths.
So far, they are a great buy for the money.
Mine have given me no problems (yet! ) so I am hoping I got a good pair.
Eventually I will buy Mackie HR824s, but that's a ways off...
Good luck!

I've been using Truths for most of the time I've been living in Japan. I have no problem with them either. Reasonably flat, a bit fatigueing, but for the money exellent.
I didn't wanna spend a fortune on speakers over here, knowing I'd have to sell them before going home. I listened to Truths and the Alesis and I ended up with the Truths.

Im using Tannoy Reveal Actives......
They are a budget monitor, and not ultra flat, but I know them well now, which is important...
If I could go back, I think I would have chosen one of the Dynaudio Acoustics range, perhaps the BM6A's.....they sound so damn clear and precise

I am using m-audio sp-5b's. They are discontinued now and reincarnated as the BX-5's. They are really clear. Not much response in the low end, but nothing a woofer couldnt take care of.

tapco s8's...
4 people i know who were previously using tannoy/truths have traded in for the tapcos in the last 2 months.
not as harsh as the truths and better low end response than the tannoys.
they're not even in the same league as the bm6's... but then again neither is the price

Hiya
Well, I had a pair of Genelec 1029 and the subby until recently. And I haven't replaced them with anything. Why not? Well, the monitors were really brilliant, in fact so good that all I could hear was how crap my studio sounded. Unless you've got the cash to totally sound treat your room you'll never be happy with even the best speakers anywhere.
