Why are computers taking so long to break the 4Ghz barrier?
I can remember back in summer 2000...the big breakthrough '1GHz processors!' During 2000 through to 2003 we went from 1GHZ to 3GHz....pretty damn quickly....but now progress seems to have really slown down. What gives? Is it the heat issues?
Im thinking that computers will need to get to 5GHZ 64bit before softsynths and plugins become really viable in the studio. What do you guys think? DS
