Dont flame me if i get this wrong....but i think a 'part' on the TI basically translates to 16 independent synth engines which can work simulataneously. For example, upto 16 different synth sounds, effects, modulations and midi settings etc etc all running simulataneously.

Thats how I understood it - the tradition synth multimode.

What I don't understand is how does this relate to the VSTi bit when opening up virus control in a sequencer.

Do you open up 1 virus control instance in the sequencer for each track you want to do (up to 16 tracks)? like you do with a VSTi.

the way I'm doing it is opening one instance of the plug, and then creating more channels relating to the same virtual instrument, but changing the MIDI channel... so I have one instance playing on 16 MIDI channels, all routed to whichever outputs you care to use.

you open up one instance (since you only have one TI) of the VC and it has 16 assignable parts which can be routed through individual channels....

Default do I understand right?

Okay, I don't think I understand the thing about parts right... I try to summarize:

The TI has got 16 parts, that means 16 sound engines. You can stack theoretically 16 parts together, each part playing another sound which theoretically uses all 3 oscillators, so the TI's able to play 48 oscillators with one key stroke. Is that possible?

Obviously, the poliphony decreases enormeously in the case above...

And if this is true: Are all parts mixed together and sent out with the main outs? I hope so...

ok i try to make it more simply..

in yeach midi channel in cubase u have option to assing from what channel it will play...
if u used sometime a plug called hypersonic it same...
so virus suports 16 channel playback
so i make 16 midi tracks in ur cubase or whatever
and in the channels option u choose difrent channel for all the 16
and then in the virus itself u define for every channel difrent sound
and then it plays all thgheter..
of cource it depends whats sound and how many voices in each ..this is a totaly difrent story.. i think it can suport like 90 osc's per voice ...
and if u use hell fat synth im sure u will not be able to play all 16 channel at once and may need to export the audio from time to time to an audio channel.

usually that's called 'layering'. you assign different parts to the same midi channel and they play togther like one part.
most synths i know of (i don't have a TI), only let you do this with up to 4 parts.

keep in mind that in your example, if you play 2 notes at once, you'd be using 96 oscillators, 3 notes would use 144, and so on.

EDIT: also, i never tried it on my KC or classic, but i'm pretty sure you can layer up to 16 parts on the same midi channel. if you use the 3rd oscillator, you lose some polyphony with those synths tho. on the KC, i think it goes from 32 voices down to 24, so you'd only be able to play one note at a time (but what a note it would be).
