Simply, connect you mic in the "External In"s. Then go to "Effects" and in "Vocoder", make it OSC mode. There's a few other modes but they work kind of the same. Now, if you have a mono mic(which you probably do), go to "Input"(also in the effects section) and select "In L" or "In R" depending on which of these you connected the mic to. You can also vocode signal L with R, but i havent tried this yet. Hope i helped!

BTW. when going into the vocoder mode, the filter section changes to vocoder parameters, and the LFO's gets replaced by level meters. This can be changed back to LFO's by going to: "Config">"System">"LedMode">"Lfo"

how good is the vocoder in either the TI ir C as compared to the elextrix. I have heard the Horg MS2999 and wasn't impressed.

If you weren't so impressed by the MS's vocoda, then chances are you're gunna hate the VirusC's. It's just a personal opinion, but I think it's awfull. Feels like a crappy add on.

I'm interested on the TIs vocoda too. Did they change anything from the C series? Really hope so.

In my opinion you wont get that classic 80's style robot voice (listen to PetShopBoys - Opportunities)....not with the Virus Vocoder. The Virus' vocoder is intelligible and muffled. You can almost create a spasticated robot voice using some onboard distortion.....but i think you'd be better off elsewhere. Perhaps a future update could make the virus' vocoder truly effective.

By all means...use it to experiment with....but like most of us....you probably wont use it to treat vocals that often, if at all

The SynthWizard has some advice - Back in the 1980's music was better, TV was better, films were better. Not to mention fashion.... Let me help you relive the past with some classic 80's sounds from my vintage synth collection....

I had the virus classic first before the TI and managed to get a robot from the vocoder.
It was done by using a hardcore acid drum beat as the modulator. You won?t get Robot from an osc modulator. A busy drum beat with some distortion as the modulator will give you a cool Dalek sound!
