Default Enhancers/Exiters

Anyone using an enhancer/exiter type device/plugin for processing sound audio from their virus?

I have been vaguely thinking of getting such a device for ages - I allready have a crappy old Behringer 1424P (It was very cheap...) that I sometimes use to good effect, but am thinking of finding something alot better: Aphex 204 as a relatively cheap option, or SPL Vitalizer Mk2-T (which is a bit pricey, but very good).

Still on the fence about whether I want to use a plugin for this kind of processing, but I would be still be interested to hear of any that are worth a look.

Main use with the TI is the add a little high frequency energy to some sounds - comes back to ongoing wish that the virus has an exiter and a compressor in its FX

No doubt Ill end up using it alot for post prodction as well. I like the flavour of the the 1424 can do, but it introduces too many artifacts for it to really be useful in post production.
