Nord Lead 2 - Impulse Buy!
I just bought a Nord Lead 2 in Mint condition for $600.
Can anyone tell me where to look for preset banks to mess with?
I hear the factory presets aren't that great (of course).
G.A.S. strikes again!

Nice score! I've wanted an NL2 for ages, but haven't found one at the right price. $600 is a bargain.

Check out this link for a taste of the NL2:

I fucking love the first 30 seconds of this demo, the 2 minute mark is good too, and I think at 6:00 or so it livens up again.
Anyone know where to find some damn preset banks for this board??? I can't find shit on Google.

Nice one Alex. Nice piece of kit and that's a very decent price.
Wish I had $600 to buy something impulsively. I've impulsively blown all my spare cash on bills this month.

Hey OVM, thanks for the good wishes.
I've impulsively blown all my cash for the past 20 years (my entire life of any type of employment) on stuff; I am the OCD (obsessive compulsive disorder) poster child. Compulsion and I are one.
You are right though, bills first, gear second. Such is life.
Will post samples when it arrives.

Erase them and start anew. Thats the best part about getting a new synth, seeing what the thing can do. The Nord Lead is such a simple design, you'll be coming up with great patches in no time.
I just realized everything I just said was in rhyme.

RASP is a poet and doesn't even know it. Thou art correct, programming the NL2 will be fun, a new start. I must admit to being a lazy bastard though and wish to hear some of what its got IMMEDIATELY. So, I Googled my ass off to find about 6 bizillion free banks (one by John Lehmkuhl) of presets and performances on the Clavia website. Really weird how they have it tucked away, you can't navigate there from the HOME page, but if you Google on "Nord Lead 2 Sound Cards" you find the following link:
http://www.clavia.se/downloads/sounds/nordlead2.htm
Quote:
"To be able to load the the complete banks you will need the following:
A sequencer to load the file to
A 64 kB battery backed S-RAM PCMCIA card
ZIP-utility
Set the Nord's global MIDI channel to 16
Warning! Using old PCMCIA cards
Macintosh and Windows unzipping instructions.
Clavia does no longer offer PCMCIA cards but you can still get the same cards that we used to distribute from Memorix Elektronik.

Some of the sounds seem like crappola but there are a few that look like they might have a gem or two in them. I'll probably load the Lehmkuhl bank and mess with it for a few days and then erase the whole board and start over. I'm not taking any classes this summer so I'll need something to keep me out of trouble...
Plaid Emu, that is funny as hell that you were cracking up in the background of your girlfriend's important call, absolutely classic. I hope you don't wind up on the couch.
Also, if anyione is looking for a bad ass MIDI editor/librarian, check out MIDI Quest 10 XL:

VST integration for everything! Also, a 50% academic discount!

I impulsively blew USD$500 yesterday on this bad boy:
Work related though. Backup recorder for when I work wireless to camera, just for piece of mind. At some point I'll look at getting a decent stereo mic rig so I can wander off and record shit.

Jase, did the human hand come with the Marantz recorder? If so, is it automatable via MIDI? How fucking cool would that be? The "Thing" recorder...(think "The Adams Family" you whippersnappers...)
How does it compare to the M-Audio recorder?
