Default Another Snow question (sorry)

Hey Guys, new to the board, have been reading way up to the 75th page for the last week!! lol

could not answer some of my questions..

I really have been leaning towards a Snow, but I really am getting it only to use the VST aspect of the hardware...

is it still buggy? i have Cubase SX3.1. .

In Canada here are my options,

brick and mortar retailer:

TI desktop - 2075 new 1875 used
Snow - 1275 new 1265 used

Ebay -

Virus B - 500-600
Virus C - 700-900
( I have been watching Ebay sales and they seem to be in that region)

now my problem is, if the vst interface (Virus Control) is still as buggy on the Snow I will probably go with the B and C and just record audio into cubase..

what do you guys think?

This reviewer is slamming the TI and saying the Snow is way better,

http://www.velvetacidchrist.com/2008...exfix93s-take/

here is an excerpt i foud interesting

Quote:
. If I plug in the usb and do a AU instrument or VST, BLAH it sounds just like the crappy plug in synths I hate. So the audio over the total integration usb sounds faint and unpunchy , just like most soft synths. So, if want it to sound punchy, loud and aggressive, I run it out its main analog outputs. This is the key. Otherwise it sounds like the rest of the digital stuff I don’t like very much.
This was mentioned in other threads but never answered.

no if that is true. . why get any of the TI machines?? I would be primarily using USB . .

I figure an ABC model will be a huge upgrade on my proteus 2000 or TR rack so whats the difference.

luke4421,

the analog outs and the usb outs carry the same data stream (or signal if you like). they sound absolutely identical.

best, marc

Other than the analog-outs being 192KHz/24-bit, as opposed to the 44.1KHz/16-bit of the USB digital-out. I don't have a TI, but I'd imagine the difference would be measurable.

However, the final signal also becomes dependent on the A/D inputs of any particular external soundcard when you record the Virus via its analog outs.
