Default VIrus B - very poorly, please help. :(

HI

I've borrowed my mates B and it seems to have gone faulty on me

I plugged it up and turned it on. There was a breif flury of sound and then the screen just went blank apart from the backlight. I turned it off and back on, now the screen says 'SYSTEM-UPDATE [STORE] Received' but none of the buttons work. The two LFO rate LEDs are both on (and the screen saying above) but that's it. Please, please help! Is it dead?

Sounds like you prompted the operating system update mode. This happens when you hold down the STORE button while you turn on the Virus. (I just did the same on my Virus Indigo 1 to confirm this, and I got the same SOFTWARE-UPDATE [STORE] RECIEVE prompt on-screen as you.).

Don't worry. Just turn the Virus off for 5 seconds or so, and then back on again, and everything should be good.

Hi Timo

Thanks for all your prompt replies to my problems. I've done what you said and "(OS4) 4.02" flashes up briefly and then the screen goes blank apart from backlight. Any ideas?

Thanks again
Jules

...and now it's gone back to the SYSTEM-UPDATE screen, and I haven't pressed anything apart from the on switch! Oh dear, it's not even mine.

hey Jules, perhaps try a system reset -

Power OFF.

Hold down LFO Shape.

Power ON whilst still holding LFO Shape - don't let go until you see the 'Initialising...' message appear.

Hi Doc

Thanks for helping. I tried that. It still goes to the SYSTEM-UPDATE screen. There's nothing connected to it apart from the power supply. Any other ideas?

Thanks
Jules
