Default 2.7.5 destroyed Virus Control in Logic on my Mac

Joerg has been valiantly trying to help me on this matter, but to no avail...

Stared to update to 2.75 from 2.73 like I'd done a dozen times (without hitch) in previous OS versions. However, the process never fully completed, so that now my TI says that 2.7.5 is loaded, but it is unresponsive when launching Virus Control as a plug-in from Logic Studio. The window opens up OK, and the patches load, but there USED to be a start-up screen, which would prod the TI in the ribs as if to say "wakey wakey....time to subordinate to me!" In other words, there was a status line that showed up in the splash screen which is no longer there.

So it's as if my TI has amnesia, and doesn't recognize my Mac at all any more.

This info shows in the info box in the utility screen of Virus Control:

Virus TI version: n/a
Virus TI Control version: 2.7.5.0
Audio Driver Version:
Audio Library Version:
Host Interface Version:
MIDI Driver version:

This coincides with the greyed out (and presumably unavailable) first checkbox in the installation screen.

I can post screen grabs of my dilemma, if anyone thinks they can figger this thing out.

Thanks in advance.

Maybe try using the Disk Utility application to check/repair your disk, and/or verify/repair your disk permissions. Might not work but it's worth a shot. Sometimes I've had success fixing odd Mac bugs just by doing that.

Frustrating, innit.

I wonder if you're having the same problem I did when I updated from 2.7.3.0 to 2.7.5.0 in Cubase. On attempting to activate the plugin I got:
"TIOS Firmware version mismatch
This version of the plugin does not match the required firmware version of the Virus that is connected to your computer"

After a couple of emails with Access tech support (thank you, Joerg Huttner!) I realised that the new file Virus TI.dll must have been plonked by the update installer in a place not expected by Cubase. So I found the file, noved it, and all is now well.

Just an idea.

pighood,

did you format the startup drive to be MacOS Extended (Case Sensitive) or MacOS Extended (Case Sensitive, Journaled)?

no, it just need to be in the place where the installer puts it. all you need to do is select the right VST directory.

best, marc

Under "about This Mac" > hardware > serial ATA:

Maxtor 6B160MO > Volumes > File System....Journaled HFS+

It never mattered before, though. Does it now?

i think Case Sensitive always was a problem (we just recently found out since this option is usually not enabled). if it worked before it should work now as well, i suggest you get in touch with access support.

what i find strange is that no driver version are being displayed.

I've BEEN in touch with Joerg over the past couple of days. He's baffled by this and kicked it upstairs to one of his technicians, who I've yet to hear from.

There USED to be information in this display box before....what gets me is that I can't even DOWNGRADE to 2.7.3....
