Default Updating Virus C OS

Hi,

I just bought a virus c off ebay and ive been trying very unsuccessfully to update the OS to 6.5...

I have read through every (even vaguely) related post on the forum and tried all of the software i can (freeloader, sounddriver, wmp) with no success...

I get a SE icon on the virus so the system is obviously recieving some data but it appears while the midi update file is playing and then disappears afterwards... nothing else happens...

I have made sure all of my settings are what i understand to be right.

My system settings currently are as follows:

Midi Dump Tx - Total
Midi Dump Rx - Verify
Global Channel - 1
Panel -Int & midi
Clock RX - Disable
Device ID - 1
LoPage - SysEx
HiPage - SysEx
Mem Protect - Off

What am i missing?

The virus is just in standard mode, ie not in update mode (store key on startup) although i have tried applying the midi file in that mode too with no success?

I have also tried using all of the midi i/o devices i have, namely a motu 828mk2 a novation zero sl and a m-audio axiom, in all cases i get the same result, little se on the virus and nothing else?!

Any help you guys could give me would be greatly apreciated... i am running out of hair to pull out and the wife will probably leave if im bald!

Cheers,

Tom.
