Afraid To Dump
Hi,
Until recently I used to use the Powercore virus, I'm now using an XL Rack, which i'm loving.
i've created a multi using my favorite presets which i've used for a while now on my powercore. i now want to do a dump to back it up, incase I need to reload it for whatever reason.
My problem is my MIDI routing.
I use a Presonus FP10 audio interface.
On the FP10, the MIDI in is connected to the MIDI out on my digital piano. The MIDI out on the FP10, then sends MIDI info from my sequencer and my piano to my sampler and my virus. (this will make sense so far because it's logical.)
now, for me to record a dump to back up my virus multi/presets etc, I need to record the MIDI info sent from the virus. Obviously this is sent through the MIDI out on the virus.
But where do I send it, the only available MIDI in socket is on the Digital piano, which would then be sent through to the FP10, and would be recorded in the sequencer as required. But, would it also not then be sent out (thru) as it was being recorded, back the FP10, then back to the virus, which would then send it (thru) back to the piano, back to the FP10, and creating a feedback loop?
I'm sure that this a simple problem with a simple solution, probably involving MIDI channel assigning etc, but before I plug the cables in, i would like to know the best way that everybody does it.
thanks for reading, and all advice is greatly appreciated.
