HELP! No audio out of a Virus C

Hi,

I'm a newbie to Virus and just got a used C, but I can't get any sound out of it. It's receiving the MIDI controller info OK. I also did the reset/initialize with the lfo shape key held while I power on (do I have to do anything else after the message comes up?). Tried different output cable configurations. I'm sure it's something simple I'm overlooking, but somebody please help soon before I send this thing back, which I really don't want to.

you checked the overall volume knob on the back?
