Default Logic 8 - Sync is lost after update, usb conflict?

I have been using the analog outs via midi in Logic 8.
My gear is synced with a master word clock and the virus (and other) analog outs run into preamps and firewire back to computer.
I haven't been doing much music lately, so I am not sure if this issue really started with the software update.
When I installed the update a pop up warned me about a possible usb conflict, but I quickly disregarded it and now I don't get the screen anymore and I forgot what it said exactly.
I know that I share the usb plug with some hard drive/memory card reader and I just simply don't know how to "reset" or uninstall the unwanted usb device(s) so that only the virus would use it.
This may be a Mac fix, but I looked all over the net and found nothing useful.
Thank you for your help!

I got something similar when I installed the 3.x software on my MacBook Pro. It looks like the 3.x software introduced a check for potential conflicts on the USB bus. Ultimately they're probably the same components that you had before so you shouldn't notice any effect from them.

(Edit - check this post: http://www.infekted.org/virus/showthread.php?t=31652)

I've had problems with sync after various update - nothing to do with the USB thing

Unfortunately it seems to be a fact of Virus life that some updates introduce issues. My advice is to keep the installers for your old versions that you know work well, and if you hit a bad syncing update, then roll back.

This really spoils my enjoyment of the Virus, and while I'm excited that there's another OS coming soon, I'm also a little saddened that they never seem to iron out the issues in the current OS before moving on.

Cheers,

Maurice
