Well, perhaps it can be improved, I don't know. All I can say is that there have always been one or two sounds that cause trouble unless they are played solo, and thinking about it, I remember coming across sounds on the B and C that didn't behave well beyond a few voices either.

The way I see it, the Virus synth engine is a hugely complex beast, and although the possibilities are seemingly endless, there will be times where you discover the 'edge of the universe' so to speak. So, if there is a workaround, I'm happy to just use it and move on.

Hmm, I have been on support with Access about this problem, and it was suggested I send the unit back to the shop.

If others are experiencing this problem, then perhaps the virus isn't faulty at all.
To be fair, pseudonym, your list of problems involves a lot more than this one!

but it was this particular issue that Access couldn't reproduce and claimed was totally unnormal (their words), hence suggesting I had unique problems and should send the unit back.

The other issues, such as exploding noise, sluggish timing and being unable to use it with the EMI 2|6 sounds like it's more related to the Virus Control s/w, rather than the keyboard itself.

hmmm - I don't know what to think now...

What about the 'INIT patch playing across all patches'?

Did you solve this issue?

This seems to have stopped since I removed the EMI 2|6 Drivers (and USB), repaired disc permissions and reinstalled the MT4 Drivers.

I tried hooking the virus up to an iBook last night to test whether I could recreate the same problems - the patch pitch thing happened again, but Virus Control seemed fine (although very slow on the G3 iBook).

I'm going to try a complete system reinstall on the G5 with nothing but the TI and Logic pro...

Or could this have been because you were in multi mode (no VC), had forgotten to turn Local Control = Off, and your sequencer was sending back note messages to a different channel at the same time you were playing the INIT sound on the current internal channel?

well, this is what a friend and I thought it could have been, but we had no init patch selected, and MIDI note data wasn't registering in Logic at all. It seemed as though the INIT patch was sounding independently of MIDI transmission, and when it then hung and resulted in a loud noise, we figured the thing was just buggered up internally.

I continue to find that note data isn't being sent to logic, so this is something I want to make sure isn't my setup by doing a clean reinstall this evening. I am running other esoteric applications such as SuperCollider and Max/MSP, so this may be causing problems.

ten, would you mind elaborating on how you fixed this problem? Is it PC only BIOS you're talking about, or the BIOS on the Virus TI itself?

Thanks
i think its not a hartware problem because i have the same problem on virus ti desktop (i send it back..) and now on the polar. they can be both faulty - but... 90% or more of the patches make no problems - so i think its the problem that ben said.

Ben, reducing voices / bouncing. That's not the reason I went and bought a TI. Everything you say is like the anti advert for www.access-music.de

Right now there are a few extra bugs than your virus b and c. Some of them in stand alone mode, no usb. Access is going to have to look at the 'engine' and work outward, toward the edge of their universe or stop advertising their universe.
