Actually the synth section looks a bit sparse for a decent modern VA:
2 LFOs
3 Env Gens (nice)
6 Slot matrix, but only one dest per slot
It does at least have a separate noise source.
A dedicated LFO for Vibrato?
Nothing Labelled FM?

Not familiar with Korg VAs, but actually the VA in the V-Synth look more capable from those screen shots, and I consider that one to be generally less capable in some ways than the Virus.

I personally prefer 3 osc VA synths. The one exception I guess is the V-Synth which makes up for it by having envelope generators on just about everything and an LFO generator in each block (per osc, per filter etc) so you can get some amazing evolving sounds out of its VA that alot of synths cant match.

Yeah, in a way I'm surpised at korg not adding extra features in the LFO, and EG area. The Z1, for example, had:

* 2 x Osc's, + 1 x VERY flexible Sub Osc, + 1 x Noise gen
* 4 x assignable LFOs
* 4 x assignable EGs, plus 1 x dedicated Amp EG

However, the rest of the Radias looks pretty darn funky.

I'm keen to try one out actually. I'd like to know what parametres you can use to play around with the PCMs for a start. Loading your own is the next question I want answered.

I do like the general sound of it judging by the demos, but I'd really like to hear one first hand.

Hmmm - someone posted to the HC-KSS forums that this thing had variable slope filters on it.

I am starting to wonder of the plugin/editor for this thing is giving a simplified view to cram everything onto a single plugin screen...

price was $2100 canadian (inc the $200 keyboard option) and the store is getting it as a store demo but dont want a demo so i get if from the first batch that were built for orders taken at the NAMM show.

Korg told the store they have 2 models left from the first batch , second batch wont ship from Korg for another 3 months

Synths these days....i dont know. More and more features that only sound designers would wish to utilise (suits me....but what about you?). When will the list of features stop and they actually try and make oscilators that sound fat like analog - you know what i mean?

Its like a chef trying to organise and cook a state dinner using shitty substandard ingredients. I heard nothing in that video that made me think...hmmm thats interesting. If they said they had a couple of analog filters in there (for instance to be used with monophonic bass and lead sounds/patches) then it would suddenly become more attractive to me.

The future of virtual analog, in my opinion will include an analog filter so that bass and lead patches could finally have more oomph. Pad sounds etc dont have to run through an analog filter.....imho

DIGITAL SCREAMS: how about measuring some of those filters in analog synths so us audiocoders get some tangible differences in audio to try and model? I always hear "analog is better" but its always purely subjective, never a pointer to a graph on =what= is actually better.. phaseresponse? nonlinear filtering based on amplitude? frequency response? random static noise caused by radio russia? Since the input/output of a filter is nicely 2dimensional, its not that hard to actually sit down and do the measurements if you have the synths available. (small sidenote: if you can hear the difference between an analog synth and a digital synth -on a cd- that means that at least the properties of an analog synth can be reproduced by a digital system.. which means its certainly worth checking out in what part of the signal chain things get interesting)
