I think it's a very similar engine to the high-definition AL-1 analogue board used in the Korg Oasys.
The first thing I noticed when hearing it at Namm was it's virus-like sound. It can even store snippets of samples and vocals, and vocoding too.
Just the price (as always with Korg

) that puts me off.
If Korg ever brings out a successor (with physicial modelling as well as the analogue stuff and more) to the Z1, I'm sold. A couple of years down the line I think they will. They've already bought out "plucked string" physical modelling algorithms for the Oasys, which sound absolutely great. But I don't want an Oasys, just a dedicated hardcore synthesis synth instead.

A ribbon-controller or XY-Pad might be nice, too, please! Thanks!
